Bavarian comfort and hospitality, living tradition and culinary delights, a cool beer in the shady inns and an imposing alpine panorama – all these things embody the holiday region of the Chiemgau in the heart of Bavaria! Our bicycle tour leads us from the Mozart city of Salzburg to Lake Waginer See and farther to Lake Chiemsee.

1. Day: Salzburg
Individual arrival and accommodation.
2. Day: Salzburg - Waging am See (approx. 47 km)
Following the Salzach River, we cycle the first part of the Tauern Cycle Path to Oberndorf. We go farther in westerly direction via Laufen, Schönram and Petting to the warmest lake of Upper Bavaria, Lake Waginger See. Via Tettenhausen we reach Waging am See, also known as “the Cradle of Bavaria”.
3. Day: Waging am See (Tachinger and Waginger See, 30 km)
Today we are free to plan our day to our heart’s content, since we stay for a second night in Waging am See. At a Bavarian lunch, a sunny coffee-table or hearty evening snack, we can experience firsthand the hustle and bustle by the lake or take a tour on our bicycles around the Lake Waginger See and Lake Tachinger See.
4. Day: Waging am See - Prien am Chiemsee (approx. 45 km)
We take our leave of Lake Waginger See and cycle towards the famous „Bavarian Sea“ – Lake Chiemsee. In Chieming we experience a typical Bavarian “Weißwurst” breakfast (white veal sausages) shortly before lunch . Afterwards, we head along the southern bank of the lake farther to Prien am Chiemsee. The townscape is especially picturesque with its typically traditional Upper Bavarian style. Accommodation in an excellent 4-star hotel directly by the lake.
5. Day: Prien am Chiemsee (Herrenchiemsee Castle and Fraueninsel)
Nearly a must for all holiday makers at Lake Chiemsee is a trip to the two Chiemsee Islands. From the port of Prien/Stock we take a boat to the Herreninsel island. A visit to the royal Herrenchiemsee Palace with its 19 state rooms and the lovely King Ludwig II. Museum should not be missed. A short boat trip takes us to the Fraueninsel island with its fishing huts and the Benedictine Abbey. Accommodation like the day before in our hotel in Prien am Chiemsee.
6. Day: Prien am Chiemsee (Tour around Lake Chiemsee (approx. 51 km) or wellness day)
Today we cycle around Lake Chiemsee (numerous bathing facilities, individual stages per ship may be organized on your own) or plan a bicycle trip to Seeon, which lies approx. 4 km to the north of Lake Chiemsee, and to the monastery of the same name. Alternatively, we may enjoy the wellness treatments at our hotel.
7. Day: Prien am Chiemsee
Individual departure or extension of trip.
Possibilities for your return journey:
Very good, direct train connections between Prien am Chiemsee and Salzburg. You easily reach your point of departure after approx. 50 minutes (fee: approx. € 15,-- per person, 2nd class, with bicycle transport). For organisational reasons, we regret that we cannot offer you a bus transfer on this tour.
