Provence & Camargue

France close enough to touch by boat & bike...

Itinerary

1. Day: Aigues Mortes

On this tour we discover the impressive landscape of the Camargue, while our ship stays in Aigues Mortes.

3. Day: Aigues Mortes - Gallician (approx. 65 km)

We cycle through rice fields and past salt lakes in the direction of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. This region is very well known for the white horses, wild boards and the beautifully rosy-coloured flamingos. Our ship waits in Gallician for us (overnight in Gallician).

4. Day: Gallician - Arles (approx. 20 km)

Our ship takes us to Saint-Gilles/surroundings and afterwards we continue by bike to Arles, the old capital of Gaul with the famous Roman ruins. On an exploratory tour we will also discover the Van Gogh bridge (often painted by Van Gogh).

5. Day: Arles - Vallabrègues (approx. 60 km)

On today’s bicycle tour we can enjoy a marvellous view of Les Baux (“city in the rock”); afterwards we arrive in Saint-Rémy (birthplace of Nostradamus). The landscape with its limestone cliffs, olive trees, and lavender bushes is sure to inspire us! Accommodation in the pretty village of Vallabrègues on the waterfront of the Rhône River.

6. Day: Vallabrègues - Villeneuve-lès-Avignon (approx. 65 km)

Today we discover Pont-du-Gard, the famous aqueduct from Roman times and world cultural heritage before we continue for Avignon. Our ship lies in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon (across from Avignon on the other side of the Rhone).

7. Day: Villeneuve-lès-Avignon (approx. 40 km)

From Avignon we cycle into the world-famous wine town of Châteaneuf-du-Pape (wine tasting), and then via Roquemaure back to Villeneuve-lès-Avignon.
