Tip: If you arrive early, we recommend a tour through the historic town centres of Goes or a bicycle tour through South-Beveland.

Today we cycle via the Osterdam dike, which connects the South-Beveland with Tholen Island. On the way there, we can gaze at the Kreekrak locks, which prevent a blending of saltwater and freshwater. Tholen Island is characterized by pictorial small towns and wonderful scenery.

Pictorial flower line our way today and make this region into a veritable paradise for cyclists. We should not miss a visit to the Watersnoodmuseum (museum dealing with the storm flood catastrophe of 1953) in Ouwerkerk. Finally we arrive on the Schouwen-Duiveland Island and at our destination of today, Zierikzee.

We leave the city of Zierikzee and cycle into the famous bathing resort of Burgh-Haamstede, which is also located on the Schouwen-Duiveland Island. The old windmill and Haamstede Castle with adjoining nature park “Boswachterij” are definitely worth a visit.

Today’s stage takes us to Middelburg, the historic capital of the Dutch Province of Zeeland. In the smallest university city of the Netherlands we can visit the Stadthuis of Middelburg, one of the most important Gothic town halls of the Netherlands.

Today’s tour takes us along winding polder roads, through freshly green meadows, pretty villages, and comfortable bathing resorts. We reach the quaint little town of Veere with its many historic buildings before cycling back again to Middelburg.

We leave Middelburg behind us and head along the Veerse Meer (Lake Veere) to our point of destination (Goes), where we let the day come to a close in one of the cosy street cafés.
